Other than introducing the short-tempered recurring witness Wendy Oldbag, Turnabout Samurai is a very forgettable case. Turnabout Samurai is the first case in the Ace Attorney series that is considered a filler case as it provides minimal value to the overarching narrative. Vasquez and director Sal Manella would then cover up the murder and frame Power. During the confrontation, Vasquez accidentally pushed Hammer into the same garden fence, killing Hammer in self-defense. Vasquez and the studio had covered it up, but Vasquez used the incident as blackmail to control Hammer.
